ULTHERAPY

What is it?

Ultherapy is a non-surgical face lift. The skin is tightened and lifted non-invasively with no downtime utilising a focused ultrasound energy.

Ultherapy focuses ultrasound waves to target the foundational layers of the skin, including the deep dermis and the SMAS layer (or superficial muscular aponeurotic system, the layer that is tightened in face-lifts). The ‘deep heating’ from ultrasound helps tighten the skin.

All of the effects are deep within the skin or beneath it, giving the deep effect on each layer, bringing the tightening of the skin from the deep down inside.

As Ultherapy has the ability to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin it is able to stimulate the body's own collagen and elastin production for natural looking results without surgery or downtime.

What should I do before treatment?

Before your treatment we recommend that you book in for a consultation with us, and a therapist trained and certified in administering Ultherapy treatments will be assigned to you. During your consultation your therapist will assess your skin, address your concerns, and determine if you are a good candidate for Ultherapy.

There are no pre and post skincare requirements when getting Ultherapy treatments so once you've got yourself booked in with us, you can sit back and relax until your treatment day!

What should I expect during treatment?

After cleansing your skin and identifying specific areas of treatment, your therapist will apply Ultrasonic gel on your face and place the smooth treatment applicator onto your skin. The therapist may also grid up the treatment area with a white eyeliner.

To make your treatment specific to you your therapist will customise your treatment by visualising the best location for treatment through the Ultherapy ultrasound imaging system, this will allow your therapist to target area(s) that will benefit you the most.

Throughout the treatment, you will feel small amounts of energy being deposited underneath your skin, this indicates that the collagen-building process has been induced. The comfort of the treatment is dependent on every individual, so your experience will not be the same as another individual. You may experience heat and/or tingling while the energy is being delivered to your skin.

Ultherapy is recognised as the Gold Standard for non-surgical face lifting and tightening by an expert panel of physicians. It is a customised treatment so the treatment duration varies on your individual treatment play and the area being treated. Although, a face and neck treatment is typically 60-90 minutes, whilst a treatment for the upper chest or décolletage will take approximately 30 minutes.

Do I need to do anything post treatment?

No downtime, ONLY natural looking results.

You read that correctly! There is no downtime post treatment and you can return to your daily activities immediately after the treatment without any treatment related restrictions or requirements.

Your skin post treatment may appear flushed (red/pink), but this should disappear within a few hours. Some patients will experience mild swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch but these are all temporary and will subside.

Other less common side affects of treatment may include bruising or numbness of small areas of the skin. Just like any other medical procedure, it is essential to speak to your provider/therapist about what to expect after your Ultherapy treatment. Ask as many questions as needed, our therapists are extremely patient and willing to help.

Some questions that are commonly asked. (Q/A)

  1. Is Ultherapy Safe?
Yes, Ultherapy is completely safe and has a well-established and proven safety profile. Ultherapy is marketed worldwide in more than 75 countries, with over 1.5 million treatments performed globally to date. Additionally, Ultrasound energy has a proven track record and has been used in the medical field for over 50 years.

  2. What is Collagen? And how does this treatment stimulate the creation of Collagen?
Collagen is a protein the occurs naturally within your skin and gives your skin it's youthfulness by keeping it firm and toned. As we age, collagen breaks down and results in the skin losing its strength and elasticity. Ultherapy uses microfocused ultrasound to generate a thermal effect within the skin which jump-starts your body's collagen production process, stimulating the production of new collagen.

  3. How does Ultherapy differ from other cosmetic treatments?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses time-tested ultrasound technology to stimulate the formation of new collagen deep below the skin’s surface. The production of new collagen takes time, so results can become more apparent over two to three months, even up to six months. The procedure takes about 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the area treated, and there is no downtime afterward. It is also the only non-invasive procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows practitioners to actually see the layers of tissue targeted during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most beneficial.

  4. Can Ultherapy be a replacement for a face-lift?
Ultherapy treats the deep foundational layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of a surgical facelift. Ultherapy is a great alternative, however, especially for those not ready for surgery.

  5. How does Ultherapy differ from laser treatments?
Ultherapy uses sound energy—tried-and-true ultrasound—which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. Ultherapy ultrasound stimulates collagen production in the skin’s foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over two to three months. Some lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers. Typically, laser treatments also only treat superficial skin and are not FDA-cleared to lift skin.

  6. How many treatments will I need?
The majority of patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment, depending on how much skin laxity they have and their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process. Follow-up Ultherapy treatments each year may help maintain results.

  7. How much does it cost?
Pricing for an Ultherapy treatment can vary, depending upon the areas being treated. Of course, the cost of Ultherapy can also vary based on geographic location and by physician practice. Treatment will be customized to meet each patient’s needs, and exact pricing can be discussed during consultation meetings.

  8. Am I a good candidate for Ultherapy? Or who IS a good candidate for Ultherapy.
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with some degree of laxity, to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. Loose skin under the neck and under the chin, or lines and wrinkles on the chest, are signals a patient might be a candidate. Typically, those in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates. While Ultherapy is not a replacement for a surgical facelift, there are many people who want some facial lifting but are not ready for surgery, whether mentally, physically, or financially. There also are younger people who want to "stay ahead of the game," as well as patients wanting an aesthetic maintenance option.

As there is an increasing amount of counterfeit Ultherapy machines being sold throughout Melbourne. You can use the link below to authenticate that we have a genuine machine.
